About Us

Kulananda Maskey Foundation, Gorkha

Kulānanda Maskey Foundation, Gorkha is a non-profit organization established with the purpose of preserving the heritage, unity, and identity of the Maskey families originating from Gorkha. Over time, members of the Maskey family have spread across different regions of Nepal and around the world. While this growth reflects progress and opportunity, it has also created a risk of losing connection with one another. In the past, some family members became disconnected due to distance and lack of communication. Today, with families even more widely dispersed, the need for connection has become more important than ever. To address this, the Kulānanda Maskey Foundation was created as a platform to bring all family members together through the use of modern technology.

Our Vision

To build a strong, connected, and united Maskey family community across the world, where every member remains linked to their roots, history, and relatives.

Our History

The roots of the Maske family in Gorkha trace back to approximately B.S. 1890 (A.D. 1834) when our ancestors migrated from Bangemudha, Kathmandu, to Gorkha. During that time, transportation and communication facilities were extremely limited. Traveling between Kathmandu and Gorkha would take around four to five days on foot. Because of these difficulties, our ancestors settled permanently in Gorkha and gradually lost contact with the Maskey families who remained in Kathmandu. Despite this separation, the Maske family in Gorkha continued to grow and prosper across generations. However, as time passed and family members migrated internationally, the risk of losing contact once again became a serious concern.

To ensure that the family bond remains strong and that future generations stay connected, the Kulananda Maske Foundation was established as a platform to bring all family members together.

Origin of the Foundation

Historically, approximately 200 ropanis of Birta land were granted to Kulananda Maskey and Ramnath Maskey. From this land, a portion of 28 annas was allocated to establish the Kulayan Temple and to create a foundation in honor of Kulananda Maskey.

In recognition of his legacy and contributions, the Kulananda Maske Foundation was formally established. For convenience and simplicity, the foundation is also commonly referred to as the Kulma Foundation. The foundation not only preserves family heritage but also serves as a platform for community collaboration, cultural preservation, and social activities.
